Yi Shi Xiong History

WuShu Education

At the age of 4, my father introduced me to wushu and personally trained me for one and a half years before sending me to wushu school part-time at the Beijing Shi Cha Hai sports school.

When I was 10, I attended wushu
school half-professional-time for the Beijing Wushu Team in the Beijing Shi Cha Hai school. When I went home to visit every week, my father would check my level, give me some pointers, and tell me some secrets and things from his own experience.
1990-2002 I became a professional member of the Beijing WuShu Team. In 1994 I became a student of Wu Bin (also the teacher of Jet Li, my old training classmate from the Beijing WuShu Team!).

Academic Education

When I was 6 I went to the Beijing Yong Jian Li elementary school.
At 10, I went to Beijing Bei Hai elementary school., and then China Beijing 100 middle school
1999 Because of my status as an Outstanding National Athlete, I was able to continue my studies at the Beijing University of Physical Education

Teaching Experience

Ever since becoming a professional athlete, I have frequently acted as a coach for various groups of wushu enthusiasts whenever they visit our team, including those from America, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, UK, Italy, Thailand, Sweden, Japan, Russia, Germany, Korea, Indonesia, France, and Myanmar..

1996. Sent by the Beijing Wushu team to teach in Fujian, China for half a year. Then when our team visited Australia, I taught South Fist (Nan Quan).

1997. Employed by the Chinese Wushu Institute to teach the Italian Wushu team.

1998. Taught a Thai athlete( from the Thai wushu team) South Fist. He went on to come in 3rd in the 13th Asian Games.

1999. I taught 375 primary school students for 3 months and then, on my country's National Day (Oct. 1st), led their wushu performance at Tiananmen Square.

2001. I taught the Beijing Wushu Team (B Team). I taught a Myanmar team South Style (Nan Quan, Nan Dao, Nan Gun) Tai Ji (Fist, Sword)(Long Fist)(Broadsword, Staff) of which some of whom then went on to take 1st place in the World Competition.

2001. Taught Nick Gracenin's team Southern Style when they came to Beijing (see newspaper articles below). When they studied under me they showed much humility: that's the fast way to improve your wushu!

2002. Taught two American athletes from Chicago Wushu Guan Chinese Martial Arts Research Center. Our team got six gold, two silver and five bronze medals. My teaching Southern Fist (free style Nan Quan) and XingYi (traditional style form) led to one of them, Sameer Karim, getting two gold medals. The other student, Eric Zich, got 2nd place in WuXingBaFa (traditional style form). Another student got 3rd place in Taiji, 3rd place in Baji (tradtional) in the Beijing International Wushu Invitational Tournament(held every 4 years).
